I'm sitting on a lawn chair on the CF side of the fence. The only way I could go to the other side is if I was a completely different person. That's the only question that I've had about getting sterilized: I suppose I could change every thought I've ever had sometime in the next 10 years.

The land mines have been installed...the guard dogs are loose.
I'm trying to see if I can get funding for a another row of barbwire.

Either way..Im over and I am never coming back

Love the image, skeeter!

As for the fence, I was born about sixty miles away from it (on the CF side, of course) and by my late teen years, had been forced to travel to it so I could peek through and see EVERY FEMALE I'VE EVER MET. If they didn't have them, they want(ed) them.

I never even climbed on it, let alone straddled it.

I, too, fell in love with someone on the other side. It was/is a strange and difficult set of circumstances, but we make it work.

...There's a fence? wink I'm way off in the middle of the ocean, so far away from land that I can't even see dirt, never mind the fence that's sitting in it.

Love the fence!
I typed in Bella Online and added .com.au without thinking...
Bella Online in Australia sells maternity and children's wear!
They have some nice "Father to be" T-shirts, if anyone's interested...(okay, okay, I'm joking!)
Couldn't work it out initially - thought you'd all left me...

I've been CF for as long as I can remember - my dreams were university, a good job, independence, financial security, travel, pets...
My mother found a diary I kept from age 12 to 15 - she found it when she moved out of the family home about 2 years ago...
Reading it again after so many years - one thing jumped out at me - I still identified with a lot of it...
The young girl of 12 still feels the same way at almost 50!
Still questioning.....on the last page of the Diary there is a list headed: "Things I Don't Understand Yet"...(Age 14...1972)
1. Why are there no female Doctors?
2. Why are important people always men?
3. Why do girls always talk about getting married and having babies? Why don't they talk about becoming Doctors?
I had a "thing" about Doctors at that time after seeing an Article in the Paper about a new wing of the local hospital being opened - the photo showed all the male doctors, administrators and politicians...
Nice to see that some things do change - so many female Doctors and amazing role models today.

In fact every decision I've made in life has taken me further into the CF world - at this point in my life, I can't even see the fence anymore.
And, so many new members - you're all welcome...at this rate we're going to need more wine glasses, sun lounges...better make a list!

indulge me in this brief metaphor:

i was definitely born on the parenting side of the fence and lived there without questioning for many years. i could see the fence in the distance, but what lied just beyond it didn't really interest me. one day i noticed something beautiful in the distance just passed the fence into the CF side. i moved a little closer to check it out. there was great beauty and freedom over there. still i shied away assuming there wasn't a place for me there. i was born on this side, and this was where i was meant to be. we had nice things to offer here too. why did i have to go anywhere to be happy: every day i started walking closer to the fence b/c my curiosity got the best of me. i noticed beautiful sights and smells and could see great laughter and joy. every day that i journeyed in that direction, i would make sure no one was looking. the more i looked, the easier it got to to do. as i moved closer and closer to the fence, i found some real ugliness on my side. there was a lot of debris laying around, a lot of heartache and things that repulsed me and frightened. how had i never noticed these before? had they always been there? i wasn't sure, but i was becoming more and more alive inside because i knew now that whether i stayed put, or crossed over the fence. . . for the first time, my eyes were truly open.

today i live on the fence, most of me on the CF side, but caught by a shoelace, and a lock of hair. i see my future and it looks beautiful. all that is left is to unravel my remaining ties to the place i once lived. change is hard, but i know i'm getting stronger.

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless. -Mother Teresa
