I know this is against the common think on this endorsement, but I have to wonder if people have forgotten what Senator Edward Kennedy did to our party in 1979. Encouraging intra-party squabbles within the Democratic Party, he ran against an incumbent president. When he didnt win the nomination, he hesitated at the convention on congratulating his opponent. This moment televised, communicated to the country the divide within the party. Ted Kennedy's lack of support cost Democrats the White House, and bought us Ronald Reagan, who, as Obama has noted, changed the trajectory of the country--and not in a good way. If one needed a reason for not voting for Obama, an endorsement from a man who ran at the wrong time and divided the party, Ted Kennedys endorsement would be it. While the Kennedy family are important patriarchs for the party, and Carolines endorsement is valuable, I think voters old enough to remember the 1980 election may be not be swayed by Ted Kennedy passing on the torch.
