Nice article, Kim.

Does it make me some kind of horrible, jaded, pessimistic person if my first thought was, "It will never last. That show will be lucky to last a season."

I honestly just don't see the general populace taking to it.

I probably won't watch it because we don't have cable, but I think it's a good idea to borrow a baby for sure. But how can it really give you an idea what it's like if, as we hear so often, "It's different when it's your own?" Also, babies are all different. If I could be guaranteed a quiet, easy baby (and toddler, child, teen, etc.) that would be one thing. But I could borrow a nice, easy baby, and think, "Ah, ths isn't that bad," and decide to have one of my own, and get a colicy baby, or a special needs baby.

Very interesting, Kim. I think the teenagers on the show, and those watching, could be impacted by what they experience, see. But I think many times when teens get pregnant, it's the whole "it won't happen to me." And then when they become pregnant, it's "my baby will be different, wonderful, whatever." Some people never get it, but hopefully the show will serve as a public service announcement.

I think now most teens see baby = freedom adulthood and pay check.... nothing else matters much anymore because someone else will raise and care for the kid if not mom then the state will and they will still get paid.

I have seen some of this show, it's ok, I didn't find it that interesting personally, although I agree with giving the teenagers a dose of reality. They get them to look after people at different ages, kids at different ages, even very old people I think as in in a wheelchair, need lots of care old people.

Reality TV has a very short lifespan, so I guess it won't really last. None of it does.

I just found it surprising that a show would be created that de-glorifies parenthood. Of course, it shows us child free "how tough it really is" but still...

I guess it is in the Super Nanny category of reality TV. Always looking for a new twist!! The previews alone made me thankful for my quiet house!!

Hi Kim!

It sounds nice...unfortunately we can't receive US tv-shows in Europe...
That would be an interesting realityshow...stupidly wink realityshows also rise in german and austrian tv.... frown
But I must confess that our tv-set is more an accesoire that an active part in our livingroom...
