I'm doing the smaller version on the right.

This is what I did (it's a scarf in progress):

Anyway, if you can't tell, there seems to be a problem with the way I'm working the crochet cuz the right eye kind of melts into the nose hole. I know it's cuz the stitches lean one way or another when you make them but is there a way to keep that from happening or revamp the pattern so it doesn't happen?

I have found when working a graph you need to be extra careful about stitch placement. I don't know why, but one stitch can make a big difference in the design as you already know. When working in rows I found on the return (what will be the back of your piece) if I don't work the first stitch as the first stitch and do the second stitch instead that everything lines up better, but you then have to add a stitch at the end to keep your stitch count correct.

If this is too confusing then regraph the design on graph paper adding a stitch to where your hole occurred on the orginial and then compensenate where needed to balance the design.

I found some help at crochetville forums, but it didn't quite work.

What I ended up trying is finishing a couple stitches differently. Instead of doing the colour change in the sinishing step of the stitch (as usual) I changed colour when looping over the hook and bringing thru (the step before the traditional colour change step)



I may need to tweak it a little more, but this seems almost perfect.

I tlooks a lot better Magikjaz you see you fixed it yourself.

I'm still tweaking the smaller version, but I managed to finish a scarf using the larger version for a friend





It ended up a little over 6 feet long and about 8 inches wide ... I love it!
