hi everyone! i posted in the recent past my desire to move. i won't rehash the whole thing but basically every winter i get depressed b/c of the weather here and i talk about moving.i know it drives my hubby crazy but that's how i feel. anyway, we were talking about it this morning and i told him one of the reasons i want to move is to meet new people. he doesn't understand why i feel like i can't meet new people here.it's not that i can't i have but i guess it's the kind of new people i want to meet like more CF people. when i look at where the no kidding groups are for ex. they are nowhere around here. even though i live in a city it's still very family oriented and it's hard to meet other CF people.

i was just wondering if you feel if it's easier/harder to meet people esp. CF depending on where you live. i've always lived here so i have no comparison.

Well, don't move here!! Hee..not that anyone would want to move to Louisiana. I live in the suburbs of the surburbs and this is the most kidcentric place I have ever seen...these mommies are crazy! I think living closer to the city is easier to meet more kidfree people...but it is still hard. I so totally understand what you are going through. My friend lives in AZ and she says the same thing...but again it is so expensive to live there that she lives further from the city. My husband is hopeing to keep promoted in the next couple of years and I told him we are moving closer to whatever city we move to no matter what. And again, as New Olreans rebuilds I plan to move closer and get out of these suburbs.....Good luck!

Don't move to Texas, either! I grew up in PA and I had to go to intensive counseling in order to stay here. Plus there are REALLY no CF people around here. It's mostly large families. It looks like most of the CF people in Texas are in Dallas. Houston in family-central. (I'm in Houston)

California is great but it's very expensive here. Plenty of CF people here in L.A. probably more in San Fran. though. And the weather is great smile

Phoenix is pretty good in regards to CF people. There are 3 different CF organizations around the valley. I still haven't attended any of their gatherings yet. There are organizations for just about anything you could ever want to do which is nice. Winters awesome, summers suck!

Fit pregnancy Mag. just released thier top 10 cities to be pregnant in. San Fran. was #5 on that list. You may want to look at those 10 cities and stay away. Public breastfeeding was one of the deciding factors.....Ewwwwww!!!

I just read this in the news yesterday,I believe.

Manderley, I think TBunny is in Ohio, so there are actually 2 CF couples! :P

I'm in Knoxville, TN. Being a large college town, it's full of younger folks looking for the next fun club/bar. But our age (I'm 26, he's 31)? Not much fun to be had.

I went to high school near here. By the time I was 22, I could count on one hand the girls from my graduating class whom I hadn't heard had given birth.

My only CF friends aren't actually CF. They're all "not yet." I really feel like a freak around here.

I did a search recently to see if there was a CF meetup in Knoxville yet. Nope. The only thing I found was a page listing a grand total of FIVE people interested in starting one. One of them wasn't even CF, but a bored empty nester. WTF?

Do yourself a favor: avoid TN.

myrabeth's post reminded me that Happy Valley in PA, where Penn State is located, might be a pretty good CF location, mainly because it is a college town and also because it is a large retirement area. Although the older folks aren't exactly CF, their chidlren are no longer a huge part of their lives.

Hey, myra's right! We are in OH! And I have to say... Columbus isn't really a bad place to be CF. The MAJORITY of our friends are CF or 30's-40's singles! (I'm convinced it helps to be in animal rescue.) We even eat out several times a week without too many wacko kid incidents.

Though I will say it depends on where you live even here - I grew up in a suburb and was one of a handful of the 400+ in my HS class to graduate from college (how sad is that? esp. with OSU right here!). Most of my classmates had spouses and families 5 yrs out of HS - I remember my 5-yr reunion invite was worded "bring the family!" I was incensed and refused to go, although I briefly considered going with my dog and my diploma!
