Hi everyone,
I've been lurking for awhile and decided to finally post. I've been married 6 years and a fencesitter but leaning mostly towards no kids. I'm working on my PhD as well as working and I don't see a fesible way to add kids to the mix, even if I really wanted them. I'm lucky enough to have a supportive family and I honestly think my dad would disown me if I had a kid before finishing school smile

The only real pressure I get is from my SIL and BIL (husband's sister) who has one kid and we rarely see them as it is so I have no idea why they push the issue so much. But I could write pages on them and their parenting so I'll leave that for another time.

I just really need a place to discuss childfree issues, give and recieve support, and vent to people that understand.

Oops, I suppose I should have done an intro for myself as well! Mind if I hijack yours? wink

I'm friends with Tress who's a member here, we went to college together. I've ALWAYS known that I didn't want children, and when my mom got pregnant with my sister when I was four, I REALLY knew I didn't want in on that! I'm not married, but I've been with my guy for oh, over 5 years now. Which leads me to numbers, you may notice me mangling them often, turns out I'm a dyscalculate. (think dyslexic, but with numbers) I also have a kitten who's more than a big enough pain to replace the "joys of having children". wink (In other words, I know that if he's a huge butt a kid would be that squared, and I couldn't toss the kid in the bathroom when I got sick of it!)
I'm mostly here to support others and to vent, fortunately I don't get bingo'd all that often, most likely because I make it absolutely clear that I don't want kids, never wanted them, don't even LIKE them (I can tolerate them if they're well-behaved and can GO AWAY after a while) and if I did wind up pregnant, I'd most likely have an abortion not only because of the gross overpopulation of this planet, but for medical reasons. (I would probably wind up murdering a host of people when I got hit with that first estrogen surge).

Hijack away smile

My animals are also more than enough for me. And as far a pregnancy I have a weak stomach so I'd be sick all nine months. I also don't get bingoed to much, but I was raised Muslim so I usually get it from acquantances when I go with my parents to functions.

Taitinfae -- welcome!! Glad you came out of the shadows of lurking!

Your reading in the CF room and conversations with us will make you feel more than at home, so I won't gush about it. I'd rather move on to your Ph.D!! How far along are you? How soon before you walk the stage in your super-spiffy regalia? Soon we shall call you Dr. Taitinfae!

It's dreams like completing my masters that have always tugged at me far more than any thoughts I had about having children.

You mentioned you could write volumes about your family -- specifically, the ones who have had kids. We're ready for it, can't wait to learn more about you as you feel your way around the CF room. wink

"Men and women think that it is necessary to have children. It is not. It is their animal nature and social custom, rather than reason, which makes them believe that this is a necessity." --Democritus

Welcome Taitinfae and Grey!

All of these new people showed up after I started posting, so it must be my inspiring conversation that draws everyone in.
