Since this is my predicament now, I'll suggest this: work from home! You won't contribute to CO2 emissions as much, since you won't be commuting. My current job is also almost paperless, which is nice. Almost everything is done online. So, there are a few things...

Nice article! I'm passing it on to my daughter who is an architecture student. she's interested in building "green"homes so her profession fits in naturally with eco-living.

I too work at home and so don't use gas to commute. I save on buying clothes to wear to the office and my clothes last longer and don't have to be the latest fashion.

Working at home gives me a little extra time to do the recycling and research "green" products to use around the house too.

There is a service you can pay for that will send all faxes to your e-mail. This would save on paper, toner, etc...

That sounds interesting -- I researched a bit and found a few providers such as efax (www.efax.com) that offer a free download and trial service.

I actually used to drive to the local general store to send and receive faxes. I thought my only alternative was to buy a fax (which we did). This may be even a better option! Thanks

If you need to send something with a signature or something like that, you would still need a fax machine, or at least a scanner. My husband's phone service will actually let him fax PDF's, so that's normally what we use. He runs his business out of our house though, so I don't know if what he has would be cost effective for the average Josephine. smile

Since I work from home, I find a lot of green jobs. Writing, blogging, and the like. Mind if I post a few in here when I find more?

Hi Colleen,

Great article, and I loved this little affirmation at the bottom of the page! Anytime I see the word "Inspire" it makes me feel good smile

I'm a holistic healer, writer and singer. I'd never considered them green, but definately helpful to society smile Massage makes people happy, so they spread more happiness. My writing and singing hopefully inspires people to see the truth inside of themselves; that they are remarkable and wonderful and beautiful. If you feel those things about yourself, you go out into the world and spread good energy wink
