Have you ever had the topic of your article-perhaps on assignment, or even just one you dreamed up--but couldn't get the words to flow? My new article talks about one of my methods for fixing the problem, which I call the Domestic Diva Method. What are your own techniques for getting unstuck?

LOL Terrie! Actually I used to have a problem when I was in the middle of doing dishes - I would "write" the most brilliant article in my head, and then try and sit down and get it on screen and I couldn't remember what I'd worked out. So my solution is to write the article longhand first thing in the morning before I even get out of bed. Then I do breakfast and the dishes where I sometimes think of additional tweaks.

I always think of great ideas when I'm out for my daily walk. I carry a little notebook and pen in my pocket just in case brilliance strikes.

Kind of difficult sometimes with 2 dogs pulling on me to keep going -lol.

Wonderful Article, Terrie!

This is my favorite line:

Youve carefully typed the title, set the font, style, and every other stalling technique in your bag of tricks.

I can spend a good 15 - 20 minutes playing with font. And there is no reason to play with the font. I just use it to avoid writing.

I really liked this article because it incorporated multi-tasking which is something I learned to do in radio and newspaper. And, it was nice to know I'm not the only poor soul allergic to doing dishes!

Another idea is to carry a little recorder with you, and just record your ideas. That way you can talk while you wash the dishes or walk or whatever smile Little recorders are very cheap now and VERY handy!

Lisa - You know, I love you and all, but um . . . kind of trying to get out of doing dishes! Can I just use that recorder for those moments when I'm "away" from my laptop.
Big Smiley Face!
