Hi, I have a healthy 1 year old son. My last period was 11-15-07. I took 5 pregnancy tests that all came back positive. I went to the Dr today (1/8) and my tests was negative. I have all of the symptoms of being preg, nausea, sore breasts, missed period etc. I have been told that it is possible to have miscarried and still get positive results due to hcg remaining in your system for up to 12 weeks. I am scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow b/c they think it could be an ectopic preg. I just need some kind of reassurance. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I am so confused, and I really want to have another baby, so you can imagine how awful it was to go in for the first prenatal visit only to find out I am not pregnant. Please help if you know of or you yourself have experienced this. Thank you

I actually feel (have felt) your pain...but only I was almost 4 months pregnant when I found out I had a false pregnancy (blighted ovum). It is possible to lose the baby without knowing at an early date but there should have been a lot of major cramping involved. You, too, may have a false pregnancy (which will also come up with a positive pregnancy test). If the ultrasound does not ease your worries, then I highly suggest a 2nd opinion and a doctor that can ease your mind. There are so many things that can make a false positive on a pregnancy test...your doc should go over each and every suggestion with you until you both come to a conclusion that satisfies both medical logic and symptoms you are having. Make sure to ask a million questions because they will rush you out of there immediately if you do not stand your ground. Keep us updated on what happens!! Good luck!
