Hi everyone,

Am I the only one who has given up on making New Year's resolutions? I tried this every year for MANY years and they were nearly always broken by January 4 at the latest.

Somehow, I thought I was going to turn into the perfect mom, generously giving my time, exercising every day and watching my diet like a hawk.

None of it worked for me, but I do have a way to make and keep goals that I wonder if anyone uses. It's no secret--I keep a daily, weekly and monthly goal sheet in my day planner and try to work by that. I have found that it helps me to stay on track with nearly everything that I have to remember. It's a visual cue to take time for myself, pay the bills, plan the menus, etc.

Anyone else have different ways from resolutions to climb the mountain of motherhood?

Oh... you resolve to not make any resolutions? ;-)

My mother gave me the greatest gift a number of years ago -- the idea that resolutions don't have to be grinds. They can be fun things, too. One year, her resolution was to try a new recipe each month. I made one once to wear earrings every day. Maybe you can resolve to try something you always wanted to do?

I resolve to do what I can to enjoy my life!

I was raised Catholic, and every year when I was little, we had to give something up for lent.(I think 6 weeks before Easer) One day a nun told us we did not have to just give things up, we could do good things, like help your dad mow the lawn, or help your mom with the dishes. This is how I started to do resolutions too. Try to make it something good.
