I stumbled across a couple of really great things online about games for kids and figured I'd share them. Particularly with the holidays coming up.
CNN did a great article on popular games for kids that you can find here:
CNN Article There's a also a really cute blog I discovered that revolves around family appropriate gaming, understanding the video game ratings, etc... You can find them here:
Family Game Blog I may have mentioned them before? I don't know... I've been reading them for a while now. They're just a great reference and a great help to parents.
I'm giving gamefly.com gift certificates to the kids (and some adults) on my Xmas list that have gaming consoles or those who I know are getting a new one. They also offer parental guidance and controls on accounts. Once the gift certs expire the recipients can choose to carry on their accounts or not. I'm particularly fond of giving gifts that don't clutter up the house with more junk and this one is a no brainer. It won't break the bank and it allows whoever you're giving it to to pick out the games they want. You can choose the length of the gift certificate starting at one month and going all the way up to one year.
Gaming gifts are huge this year. It's nuts. Everywhere I go I hear someone talking about buying the Wii or a DS or a 360. Then there's the whole game selection process to go along with it. It gets a little overwhelming and buying new games isn't cheap! Not to mention very personal. I know what I like but I doubt it's what my 15 year old nephew wants, hence the gamefly gifts.
Hope this helps everyone faced with the daunting task of game selection this year! I know it helped me.
