I have nursed on airplanes several times and have never had a problem. I have, however, always flown with my hubby, too, and he sits in the middle seat while I sit by the window. I think it's key to get an airline blanket or pillow or bring your own to rest baby's head on so they don't hit their head on the hard armrest or wall (this has NOTHING to do with covering up - just protecting baby's head!)

Finally, I think it's important to realize that ears pop when going up and coming down, so those are the best times to nurse, feed a bottle, give a sippy cup, or a pacifier - whatever to get the baby to suck and swallow to minimize the pressure in their ears.

Happy Travels!

Jenny.. I'm sure you'll do great! Travel can be tricky with kids. Especially now that so many airlines are eliminating pre-boarding and other family friendly policies. Apparently they seem to be scoring points by ego-padding businessmen by making travel even harder to those with children. It's mystifying to me.

My husband, who is usually the most mild-mannered guy in the world, gets so fed up with this he once told a gate agent who rudely told us that families were no longer welcome to preboard that that was fine...he just hoped he was ready to deal with the complaints of all those he accidentally knocked in the heads with our carseats while trying to juggle the kids and carseats and carryons!

ugh!

I am also dreading breastfeeding in public. We are supposed to go away for the weekend next month but luckily we will already introduce solids by then, so i will be able to breastfeed him in our room and bring some food with us when going for a walk.
