Hi Justine,

Fibromyalgia is a disease in the central nervous system and not actually a rheumatoid condition. So the brain magnifies what ever pain is felt and it can also magnify the senses. So some fibromyalgia patients experience Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome because of this. When you have MCSS, you cannot tolerate synthetic fragrances, or household chemicals-it literally makes you sick. That's why I use non toxic household chemicals and low or synthetic free body care products. It's a strange symptom, but it is real to people with fibromyalgia.

I have sensitivities to alot of the perfumes and dyes used in soaps, shampoos and hair conditioners. I have to be very careful with what I use. I also developed a hypersensitivity to onions when I was 24. I can no longer eat them and the smell of them along will cause me to start itching and getting ill.
The strange thing about this illness is that one day we can tolerate something and the next day it can bring us to our knees.
