A beauty staple for celebrities and women everywhere since the 1930's, 8-Hour Cream is a combination of petrolatum, a beta-hydroxy in one of its first cosmetic uses, and vitamin E. The name comes from an incident where a user experienced a healed skinned knee "eight hours" after application.

Victoria Beckham (AKA Posh Spice) is a fan of this classic beauty staple. In October's 2007 InStyle Victoria declares,I swear by Elizabeth Ardens Eight Hour Cream, David likes it too we share all our beauty products.

Ali Larter, star of Heroes, uses this dense moisturizing classic on her lips, fingers, elbows and face.

I HATE this stuff. I'd really like to love it, but it is my absolute biggest beauty disappointment. It smells terrible, is incredibly greasy and is extremely difficult to "spread" around on your skin. It feels heavy on the skin.

I can not think of one good thing to say about this other than it is defiantly a cult product with a wonderful mystique, and boasts many fans, celebrity and otherwise.

What am I missing?

I haven't tried that cream.

Honestly, I have a hard time believeing any endorsement in magazines or celebrities. After all, when is the last time one of those celebrities took their hard earned dollars to the store and actually bought something? They get it all for free at their celebrity events, then those of us with much less disposable income spend our money on the products.

Find someone with great skin, ask them what they use - thats always been my best way to find out about anything!

Sounds expensive to me. I'm using an alpha hydroxy cream though I got from my derma. It works for me. smile

Yikes! Don't put anything on your skin with "mineral oil", which is what petrolatum is. It is a petroleum by-product. It is widely used because it is dirt cheap. The skin cannot absorb mineral oil-thank God-so it does not penetrate the skin and moisturize. It just sits there feeling icky. That's what baby oil is, which my skin has never tolerated. Use products with natural essential oils from plants, which do penetrate the skin. A great direct marketing company called Arbonne International has great skin care products that are pure, safe, and beneficial and NEVER use mineral oil. I wouldn't use anything else!

I use coconut oil or shea butter-all natural. I agree putting petroleum products on your skin is not a good thing to do!

I agree with all the above posts especially celebrity endorsements.

Look at Pro-Active and all the celebrities its endorsed by, but talk to real people and you get mixed reviews.

The thing to remember is what works great for one person might not work for you and unfortunately its mostly trial and error to find the right product for your skin. but the more natural the better.

Products for hands that I like are Body Shops Body Butter, you can buy them at half price after the holidays and they store well.

I liked the SpaSensials product that I reviewedBellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. If you don't know how to do UBB code just post here for help - we will help out!

I have a hard time believing celebrity endorsements too. Especially since they've usually been paid to use the product or else get it for free.
