Any of you feeling a little sad by the status of the healthcare industry today? I've been doing a lot of research with all of action for the 08 Election, as well as all of the stuff I saw in Sicko. I really think that the American healthcare system needs to change, and they need to hear us out.

I was doing some research and found this website that AARP put up. Yes, I know it seems like it's for the "older crowd," but they've got a lot of great tips on how to revolution Medicare and the health industry in general, as well as ways to get in contact with your government officials. You should all check it out to get our voices heard. BellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons. Please use UBB code. I do believe that there are problems with America's healthcare system. But do you truly believe that putting it in the hands of the government is the answer? Have you been to the DMV lately? Maybe the post office? It's usually a miserable experience because it is run by government workers who don't care because they can practically never be fired for anything. Is this how you want healthcare to be? You'd be forced to see an appointed doctor without any choice in the matter, and you'd have to wait possibly years for routine procedures. At least with privatized healthcare as it is now, you have the power to go where you want to go and start your own clinic if you so choose. Check out Canada's healthcare system before you get comfortable putting your healthcare into the government's hands. Many Canadians are crossing the border to get ours.

It's not about putting it in the hands of the government, it's simply about making sure that everyone can be taken care of properly when they need it, without paying an arm and a leg simply so they can see a doctor. Elders in the US really get the short end of the stick; Medicare is in desperate need of reform, and that's really all I'm pushing for. I love my mother and I want to make sure she's well taken care of in her years to come...if you have elderly loved ones, you should support this cause as well.BellaOnline ALERT: Raw URLs are not allowed in these forums for security reasons.
