Hi girls. Do any of you have suggestions on how to apply liquid eyeliner without painting my entire face?

Your help is appreciated.

The biggest thing I've found is to make sure your brush is not too loaded with liner. It is easier to apply in small swift strokes, than to try and load it up all at once and do one big swoop.

I also "anchor" my pinky on my cheekbone while I'm applying it, so that my hand has a little bit of support and is not so shaky. (Of course, that may just be a sign of old age, LOL!)

Your tips have been very helpful. I tried out your tip this morning and it seemed to help.

Thanks

Yea! I got a lot of practice this past year doing liquid eyeliner on other people. My daughter is on a competitive cheer team - and their makeup is very dramatic. And it fell to about 3 of us moms to do the makeup for 30 girls, 'cause all nthe rest were too chicken, LOL!

One great technique I found is to first line your eyes with kohl pencil which is easier to apply. Then when you apply the liquid eyeliner you have a guideline, and also it doesn't show up any wobbles. You can also then use the kohl pencil again on top to blend the liquid to get a nice even line (ie, "spreading" it before the liquid dries completely). It also lasts much longer this way as the kohl acts as a type of fixer/foundation for the liquid liner.

and another thing....you can brace you elbow on a hard surface then place the pinky on your cheek and start from the outside in and gentaly pull the eyelead straight with your ring finger from your non domantate hand. this makes your lid straighter and your hand stabler and by useing your ring finger to pull the lid and going from the out side to the inside you would casue wrinkles or sagging of the lid....or so I am told!

I also agree about not loading down your brush but I use one long stroke to apply the liner because the short strokes tend to not match up or I get way to much on and have this weird raccoon eye thing going on....

I have never tried the Kohl liner before and after I think I will though!

Thanks for the tips I will definately have to try it out. I have never thought of using the pencil first to create a guide and then applying the liquid.

Thanks smile

I think that is what part of the problem is. I can't do one swoop of the eyeliner.....practice makes perfect.

I have done what elleCreatEd suggested, and the elbow on a surface. I only end up using it when I really need to get spiffy for going out on business work, or that dress up time with my man. I am bad with the makeup, still learnings to many years later, you would think we got this trick down the first time, but nooooo not me. smile I cant draw a striaght line with a ruler, you think I can paint on my eyelid without poking myself in the eye or without a guide line? haha Man, I wish I could! smile
