I have a C.Netrasiri Beauty x Pot.Netrasiri Starbright #4 and it is failing. I have repotted it and moved it to different areas. I am giving it light under a grow light and have it in a intermediate tempreature range. Do you know anything that might help with this? My other Catts bloom ocassionaly, but this one seems to be bound for the trash and I hate to loose it. Thanks!

I have couple Catts which show the similar condition as yours, browning leaves and falling, even the pseudobulbs turn to dark brown color.
A friend recommended me to repot them in the moisturized but fully packed sphagnum moss in pot; that means the fingers can not go through the medium.
Keep the remaining rhizom above the potting medium. Stake the plant to keep it in its nature position and keep the plant in a much shady area.
The rotting process of my plants seems slow down although I have not seen any new growth. You may like to try it.

Cheers.

Hi Judyraey,

THis post is a little old, but if you still have the cattleya, increase its light levels. Many people are able to grow under grow lights, but with cattleyas, they typically need much more light. I am not a fan of potting orchids in sphagnum. I prefer to grow cattleyas in a large bark mix as they like to dry out between waterings. Here is an article about repotting a cattleya orchid. How to Repot a Cattleya Orchid I hope this reaches you. Best of luck!

Cheers,
