I'm 19 weeks and 3 days today. I have still yet to feel fetal movements (e.g. sensations of popcorn popping or butterflies fluttering). Did anyone else have this issue? How long until you start feeling movements? I'm overweight, so that may be a factor as well. I know the baby is ok because I have a doppler to check the heartbeat but I still worry about the movements. HELP!

You may not realize that the feeling is the baby moving. To me, it felt like a gas bubble moving in my stomach, I had to ask my mom if that was the baby or gas. She thought that was hysterical. The fetus is still only about 6 inches, so you may just not be feeling the baby move yet. If you are still concerned, mention it to your doctor.

Feeling the fetus movements, ordinarily at 16 to 20 weeks. Women who have been pregnant before generally feel movements earlier than women who are pregnant for the first time. yr doctor will have an ultrasound done. like Sue said gas bubbles lol

Well, I'm almost to week 21 and still no fetal movements. We did have an ultrasound last week and found out it's a girl and she's doing fine, but I'm just wondering why I'm not feeling the movements. I know I don't need to borrow trouble but it does worry me. Perhaps being overweight could be my problem?

I remember the first time I felt my daughter move, it was prior to my 20th week but I would not have known what it was had I not been doing ALOT of reading. It felt like the fingertip of someones hand, touching me on the inside, its hard to explain other then that. I talked to the doctor and she confirmed thats what it was.

Soon enough you will feel as if your little one is playing soccer with your kidneys. My daughter used to stick her knee out (she was head down at the time), I would gently push it back in and she would stick it right back out again. It was strange seeing my stomach sticking out like that but funny to see her moving like that.

You may not feel the baby for a while I was 26 weeks before I felt my baby move, and I am now 37 weeks. don't worry you will feel your baby move the bigger he/she gets.

I'm now 22 weeks and still nothing. I thought I felt her move about a week ago but I really can't tell. I asked the doc and she said everything was ok but I was probably just not recognizing it. I'm so glad Whitnie said she didn't feel it until 26 weeks. That eases my mind.

The first time I realized I was feeling my baby move was when I was having my 20 week ultrasound, and I saw her kick on the screen and I felt a little bump at the same time. I said, "oh, that's what that was!" Like others have said, you've probably felt it, just didn't realize thats what it is. Don't worry though, before you know it he/she will be getting up under your ribs and letting you know he/she is there! laugh Good luck with everything!

It probably WAS your baby when you thought it might be and wondered. It is really, REALLY normal to question and doubt and wonder. Don't worry - soon enough you'll be in the third trimester and there will be NO doubt! :-)

For some women an anterior placenta (Placenta towards the front of the uterus), or even a few extra pounds around the tummy, can make it more likely to not feel the baby as soon as other women - it is NORMAL. :-)

So, no worries. I can't wait to have you post back excited to have seen and felt the kicking against your hand.

Blessings,
Angela <><
