Hi Rae and all,
I am new here and just finding my way around. I am so glad I found this forum tho, I reall don't know what to do and could use some expert advice.
I have read many questions regarding nose screw and some touch on my question but none hit it exactly, so here goes and please bear with me, I'll try to keep things consise.
I got my nose pierced in May and had a stainless steel 18g screw put in because I read on one site where they were the best way to go as they didn't fall out. I also wanted a screw because they originated in India, and I love all things Indian. The piercer at the shop agreed, so off I went.
I had absolutely no problems with healing, no pain, no swelling, nothing. Along about the middle of Sept, I decided to try to put a new screw in. It took a bit of work, but it went in. ...hmmm, that's what HE said,

... Anyway, I bought some new 14K yellow gold screws and when I when to switch-OUCH! It was awful, I had to stop messing with it because I was getting a clear-pink tinged discharge and I knew then the piercing might not have been totally healed. Thankfully, I had a clear spacer that I put in until I could figure out what to do. The shop that did the work is several hours away and I didn't/don't have a clue where to go in my area, so I decided to try a bone in the nostril. I got it in with minimal pain. Now, here are my questions...I want to go back to a screw, but now I am afraid to take the bone out. Should changing/removing a bone hurt? Once it is totally healed, I would have thought I could change nose jewelry like I change earrings, no? I really don't like the bone because it is loose in the hole and doesn't stay close to my skin and I am constantly pushing it against my nose. I used the same gauge as my screw, so I don' think that is the issue. Also, one of the bones that came with is a larger gauge, than I currently have, what would happen it I tried to put that in? I'm thinking it might hold the bone closer to my nose. Does cartilage stretch at all once healed? Will it always hurt when I want to change jewelry?
Thank you so much. I'm sorry it was so long, I've been told to write a book. I think that was a polite way to tell me to shut up...
