I'm just curious if we have a lot of knitters here, if people know how but don't regularly knit, or if they're a knitting addict like me! laugh

If you knit, what kinds of things do you like to make?

I am a knitter. I currently have two projects on the go. One's a baby cardigan for a friend of mine, the other a cushion cover for another friend who has just moved house. I try and knit on a daily basis, even if it's just a few rows. It's like valium for me, it calms me right down after a busy day at work, hahaha.

I just moved to Krakow, Poland 5 days ago and none of my craft stuff has arrived from the states yet.

I normally loom or machine knit (I use a bulky, non electronic machine and hand manipulate the stitches) to make sweaters and afghans, or ponchos and shawls, but am learning to hand knit to make a ribbed scarf and hat for my son.

It's slow going, as I am teaching myself from books and using online tutorials. That half-finished project is making its way across the Atlantic in a crate as we speak.

I was first a crocheter, then an embroiderer, then a sewer and then a few years back got into machine knitting, then loom knitting.

I am hoping to find good yarn here to work with and hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, like at home.

Bookratt, have you seen www.knittinghelp.com yet? It's a fantastic resource site with all kinds of video tutorials.

I quick google showed this (scroll down to the bottom of the page)

I'm interested in learning how to machine knit and loom knit. A friend of mine just found out about a very large used one at an auction for $1000, but i didn't feel i knew enough to know if it was a deal or not or if all the parts were there, etc. I decided i better start with a very cheap machine, try it out, learn, trade up, etc.

Today i was with an open knitting group at a store... we're getting to be a good group and it's a lot of fun. Anyone else knit in a group?
