Hello folks,
Welcome to the BellaOnline Herbs forum. This is a place where we can chat about herbs and learn from eachother. A lot of knowledge about herbs has been passed down through the generations, just by women sharing anecdotal information with eachother. Let's keep up this tradition!

Welcome Evelyn, I love herbs. I used to have a big herb garden when we lived in ORegon annd also in Southern CA. We live in TX now where it gets so hot I don't really like spending time outside in summer.

However, I do use herbal extracts for health reasons and love the medicinal uses of herbs. Right now I have one sage plant and one rosemary that i use for cooking.

Where do you live in Oregon? We used to live in southern Oregon. I am from there but my family wanted to come back to TX so here we are!

Hi Joan,

I live in the Applegate Valley, where herbs grow quite well! I am currently harvesting dill and basil. I'll be freezing up some pesto with the basil and canning some dilly beans with the dill!
Have a good weekend!
Evelyn

Hello everyone. I'm a bit of a crazy gardener and don't know when to quit. However, herbs are my favorite. Mint for mojitos, basil for pesto, oregano for pasta sauces are probably some of the most regular ones I use. My favorite would have to be my lemon thyme. The lemon fragrance is so pronounced. It's wonderful with everything from seafood to chicken and vegitables. It's low growing and is great around a stone garden path. Then when you walk along the path there is a wonderful lemon scent. I live in the south though, and it's currently about 100 degrees so I'm hiding indoors unless I need to harvest some herbs or water. I'm looking forward to late October!

Hi Everyone,
I live on a farm in No. CA where we're growing aromatic herbs, like lavender, rosemary, sage, and lemon verbena. Looking forward to sharing ideas. I'm on the hunt for recipes to make body products for hair and skin using herbs, but maybe I should start a new thread for that. We ended up growing mostly herbs because they're survivors. There are a lot of deer and gophers here, sandy soil, and it's hot.
Nice to meet all of you!

Wonderful site, Ms. Roether! Am glad to see this one added; herbs and their many applications in our lives, both medicinally and otherwise, have long been a fascination for me. Keep up the good work!
