I have six Phalaenopsis orchids so I have a few different questions.

1. Two of them lost their whole spikes after blooming. Why would that be? After blooming I cut a few inches off the top, but it died all the way down to the roots.

2. My very large, hardy and healthy Phal just started growing a new plant on its spike. I read in this forum that that means the plant is dying, but it doesn't seem the case...

I guess that is it for now. Thank you!

Many phalaenopsis lose their whole spike after blooming, not unusual....

New plant on the spike is a kiekie (prob spelled wrong ) when it developes healthy roots cut it off and plant it.
