Good evening everyone! I'd love to get your thoughts on this topic. Do you think Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad should be granted access to lay a wreath at Ground Zero while in NYC for a United Nations visit? Tell me what you think! -Nicole

It's not what he will do if he goes there since he will be escorted by Secret Service. It's a matter of principle. He is funding terrorist nations, including the ones that carried out 9/11, and arming terrorist nations that kill American soldiers. He denies the Holocaust ever happened. He commits genocide not only in his own nation, but stating that Israel "must be wiped out from the map of the world." Do you think it is acceptable for him to lay a wreath on our own 9/11 site? Shouldn't this be considered horrifically offensive to the victims of 9/11 and their families?

He has also been invited to speak at Columbia University. Is it acceptable for the president of an American Ivy League university to give a stage to a fanatic like this? I'd love to hear rebuttals.

You won't get a rebuttal here. As far as I'm concerned, we shouldn't even let him into the country at all, much less to visit ground zero or our universities.

Iran didn't bomb the WTC. Osama bin Laden did. Iran's president was elected by the Iranian people. Did we not go to war according to our esteemed president, to bring democracy to the people of Iran.
That was after the fiasco involving weapons of mass destruction, of course.
So why shouldn't the elected president of Iran visit the WTC? He is not our enemy.

To believe that Iranian elections are legitimate is unwitting. I am well aware of who specifically carried out 9/11 and I never suggested going to war with Iran. But to make such a bold statement as "He is not our enemy," is grave. Even the 9/11 commission found that Iran had been harboring al-Qaeda (the terrorist organization who carried out 9/11 under Osama bin Laden), as well as having ties to the Khobar Towers bombing (a 1996 bombing of US military barracks) and the 1998 bombing of US embassies in Africa. Bin Laden's son is even an esteemed guest of the country. He has more than once kidnapped British and American soldiers and most recently kidnapped American tourists as hostages.

This man is a lunatic who claims the Holocaust never happened. He is the president of a totalitarian government that opresses its own people. To pretend he was elected fairly and in full cooperation with the democratic process is careless. Please understand this: his regime punishes homosexuality by hanging and stoning. Women are publicly flogged for not dressing "appropriately." And it is the founder and supporter of Hezbollah, the terrorist group that seeks to destroy Israel and kills thousands of American soldiers. In fact, they currently supply terrorists in Iraq with IEDs that kill Americans, and are smuggling surface-to-air missiles into the country. Not our enemy??

Hi Pondlady
Thanks for your opinion pondlady, you are so correct.
Yeah Ahmadinejad came out of election here but not fair election I think. Less than 60% of Iranian voted that many of those votes changed in favor of him unfortunately. On that time no any country or UN had any statement against such fake election but now they want to start another war!!!!

Thanks babak, nice to meet you too. I'm going to conclude by saying that I think the terroristic acts sponsored by those currently in power in Iran speak for themselves (1979 hostage crisis, Beirut, etc.). A sponsor of worldwide terrorism (by your own admission) shouldn't get within sniffing distance of the symbol in this country of the pure evil of terrorism. To allow anything different is to finally admit that we don't care anymore about the deaths of the thousands of our innocent countrymen who died on 9/11. If Mahmoud wants to lay a wreath at the site of terrorism against Americans, there's an embassy in his own capital that will do.

Dear Nicole
About your navies who died in Beirut 1982, its a possibility that Iranian government commend but not sure yet. Your embassy occupied 1979 in Tehran but no American died there. After that insane action our nice government resigned at once to protest against that action. Oh we were big loser for that crazy act really and all the leaders and student who did that shown their regret.yeah we did a crime/wrong on that time I accept it but Why we did that has long history that started from when American leaded and supported a coup in Iran and destroyed our democracy (we had Nationalist government) on 1953 because your government thought Iranian wasnt ready for democracy. Oh what am I talking about I guess we must stop hostility and go for make better future.
Yesterday I was watching speech of California governor Arnold about Global warming, he more like to think what we should do in present.

Yesterday I saw our president speech in Colombia University, live via CNN and coverage news around it. It wasnt so bad I think. A liar president (that is normal in this crazy world) and a humble/harmless University academic master who was inquiry him. I felt that questioner wasnt fully comprehend and wasn't update about what he asked I think, that questionary had to made by an expert Journalist I guess! Anyway Wednesday Ahmadinejad will interview with Christian Amanpoor in 19:30 via CNN. I guess she can do that, she is an Iranian-American and more know about Iran today.
