My daughter and I have been thinking about getting a dog. We currently have three cats, all very placid and used to dogs.

We like to use a website (www.petfinder.com) where you can adopt adult animals that need a home. I have been thinking about getting a couple little pugs. I have always thought they were so cute and I just LOVE their little faces. I heard Judge Judy describe them as little clowns and how wonderful they are.

Does anyone here have experience with them? Do they have special problems that are peculiar to their breed? I have noticed several mentions of skin problems and allergies.

Do these dogs travel well? Are they apt to be hyper? Any information would be helpful.

I've never had a pug, but we have friends that do. I think they are great little dogs... happy and very sociable.

Pugs.com is an excellent source of pug information and includes a discussion forum.

I have a pug - he is the best dog I've ever had. I have had a lot of dogs and loved them all, but my pug has the best personality. I would definately reccommend a pug.

Pugs are extremely, highly intelligent animals, and are one of the very few breeds of dogs that have a tendency to adopt or show "human" characteristics.
They are wilful, and have very individula strong personalities.
if you want to stay ahead of the game, and be in charge, rather than at their beck and call, you have to show equally strong characteristics.
This is a generalisation, and just like humans, pugs - and indeed, all breeds - have their strong, dominant, good-humoured, tetchy, wilful, obstinate, passive, calm and peaceful individuals!
Start as you mean to go on, and everyone will lead a balanced, normal, happy tranquil life, with everyone knowing, and happily adopting, their rightful place in the 'pack'!

Good luck!
