Anyone have a dumb criminal story they have heard or seen on the news?

I have a few but will start off with one.

There was a guy in Florida, I believe, he went into a convenience store and laid a twenty dollar bill on the counter like he wanted to buy a pack of cigarettes.

When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the criminal pulled a gun and told the clerk to back up. When the clerk moved away, the man reached in the cash drawer and made off with all of the money.

He ran from the store, leaving the twenty on the counter. The funny part of the story was that he left the twenty and there was only fifteen dollars in the cash drawer that he made off with.

A few weeks ago here in Maryland, a couple of kids robbed a gas station convenience store of money and candy. The police were able to immediately locate them by following to empty candy wrappers that had been strewn along the route from the gas station to where they ended up. Who said criminals are dumb?

I hope they fined them for littering as well as the other charges! ROTFLMBO~

We were filling up at a gas station in the deep cold one winter when some people decided to use a lighter to try and unfreeze their gas cap from the gas tank. My husband at the time was like holy smokes let's get the heck out of dodge.

Another time we had broken down in Texarkana on a saturday afternoon (I highly recommend you avoid doing this as the town basically closes up at 3 or 4 oclock) we had a slow gasoline leak in our used Audi 5000. The mechanic was under the car, looking for the problem, the WHOLE garage reeks of gas, and he is smoking a cigarette under the car saying I do believe you might have a gas leak!

I just wanted to say Here's your sign!

Erika, your "true stories" prove that not just criminals are DUMB! I had to chuckle when your husband said "Holy Smokes. Let's get the heck out of Dodge!" How funny!

Here's another true story. Unfortunately I don't know it is going to end up, YET.

My friend had her credit card number stolen. She reported it and asked what charges had been made. The DUMMY had sent money to himself through Western Union AND had ordered PAY FOR VIEW movies through the cable company. He/she had also signed up on finding old classmates.com!

Talk about not using your head! The authorities are currently "looking for the person!" wink Shouldn't be too hard to find.

I have another one where this guy was sitting at a drive through in a bank and sent his envelope into the teller. A few minutes later, a couple of police cars blocked him in and arrested him.

Apparently, the envelope he sent into the bank was the wrong one. It was full of marijuana. lol

This other guy went into a bank and gave the teller a note that he had a gun and wanted money. She gave him money and ran out of the bank leaving the note behind. The note was written on the back of his telephone bill. lol.

Thieves stumble into police training exercise

Antioch, CA -- Two men looking to steal some copper wire couldn't have picked a worse place.

Officers in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Antioch report they were conducting a K-9 unit training session in a vacant building. According to police, the would-be thieves walked into middle of their exercise.

One officer was hiding in the building while another practiced telling him to come out before the dog was released. Police say one of crooks thought he was being ordered to surrender and gave himself up. Officers searched the building and found the other guy, too.

How about the one where the man wanted to break into a store, so he tried to throw a brick through the window. Well....the window was made of non-breakable material. The brick bounced off, hit him in the head and knocked him out. He was an easy catch for the cops.

I know where I live, having any alcohol in your possession is a crime. So my next door neighbor one morning was in a fight with another lady and here comes the village cop and my neighbor stands her ground but as she went to turn around, she slipped and fell on the ice and a fresh beer can rolled out of her pocket and landed right at the officers feet. He picked it up and said "well, well, what do we have here". The funny part was that she actually asked if she could have it back because it was her last beer.
