If you are collecting unemployment - if it were me I would take a break to plan my next move and think about what I really wanted to do. Then take my time to get a job I loved!
I think volunteering helps while we're looking for work. It gives us something scheduled to go to, it's a job... you just aren't getting paid for it. But it let's you feel needed and useful, and sometimes the contacts with people leads to paid work, too.
I do not understand how so many people loves to live on government money. I lost my job in July of 2009 and I am still jobless. After a year of having lost my job I realised I could not find a job where I moved I had to get on welfare (they refused me unemployment because my boss was my dad) and I feel so dirty since the day I filled that form. I moved to another city and that city is bigger and is closer to bigger cities so I am pretty sure that when I start looking around here I will be able to find a job but I am thinking of moving or getting back to school so until I make that decision I will not look for a job (that decision is coming soon but that does not make me stop feeling worst about the checks im getting every months). The thing with me is that I gave my name to every jobs available that do not ask for school diplomas and experience and I still could not find anything!
