Okay, I am in charge of the Dinners and Socials Ministry at my church nad every year we have what is called a Spiritual Growth Journey.
The church picks a book and we form small groups to discuss it each week. This year we are doing the book "Rediscovering The Kingdom" by Myles Munroe and at the end of the journey, which will be in December, we will have a big celebration.
This year's celebration will be focused on the children at our church as they will all be crowned Kings and Queens to represent the Kingdom of Heaven. We will have a big coronation ceremony and then I am to put on a big dinner. The mens and womens ministry will all be dreesed in white shirts and black pants and will serve the little kings and queens.
I have already decided on the colors to be purple and gold as the theme and I am trying to have cakes made in the shapes of crowns.
Now, comes the part where I need ideas.
What do I make as a main course? I was thinking about baking a bunch of whole chickens and carving them or maybe turkeys and then I was thinking about roasts as they would probably be cheaper in the long run, but then I thought about kids and textures and some may not want that or be able to eat it.
Does anyone have any ideas about what to make for them as a main course and keeping along with the theme of royalty? Should I stay with the chicken or turkey idea or does anyone else have any ideas?

Sounds like a fun evening!
Most kids I know, (including my own), LOVE chicken legs. They'll eat them plain without any seasoning too. They're best when boiled and the skins taken off (for younger kids that is.)
You could make a bunch of legs for the kids (legs are less expensive than whole chickens) and then perhaps get some cornish hens for the adults.
Those are my first thoughts.
Let me think on it some more and post again later . . .

Yes, chicken legs would be great idea. Of course, it is not as formal, but when I have to fix for kids at church I do pigs in a blanket....

I ws thinking about chicken legs actually and using them in place of the bvig turkey or mutton legs that you see Kings eating in the movies or those King Arthur themed restaurants and thats when I thought that it wasn't a medieval king and queen I am cooking for but for children of the King of Kings.
Thanks for the help so far and if you get any more ideas, please post them here.

My mom used to actually cater for a renaissance fair several years ago.
I checked with her to see what her menu was...
Raw veggies w/ dip Turkey legs (although she did agree that chicken legs would be better for kids) - just used the rotisserie spice rub and roasted the legs in the oven corn on the cob roasted new potatoes Whole loaves of bread (you can get the mini loaves) Hunks of cheese and fruit slices (apples and grapes would probably be best for kids)
She said for drinks they had apple cider or tea served in mugs.
They didn't serve a dessert, because she was told that wasn't "traditional", but I'm sure any kind of cake would work for the kids. Maybe you could top cupcakes with plastic jewelled rings.
The meal was served in metal pie tins, and no utensils were used at all, mugs for drinks, and cloth napkins.
Hope this helps some!
