Hello everyone,

Some places to find online freelance writing jobs are:

rentaghostwriter.com
elance.com
rentacoder.com
craigslist.com

All of these sites are paid sites except Rent A Ghost Writer and craigslist.com

Are there others?

A friend of mine works for elance and does really well. She hooked up with someone who needed ebooks edited and now handles his customer service at $10/hr besides.

Guru.com is a great site. I've used both Guru and Elance and I've found that Guru buyers are "business owners/companies" while Elance "buyers" are more of the get rich quick types. I'd suggest you try Guru first--it's also less expensive. Elance will eat you alive with their fees.

Plus one thing you should know about Elance (which not many do) is that there is a huge conflict of interest on the site. Elance has its own network of writers and freelancers bidding and Elance is very involved in "recommending" freelancers to buyers.

This site is great because you can write about whatever you want, and let editors buy it, or you can take "requests". It is used by thousands of editors and web site owners.

Also, check "writing" jobs on Craigslist.org. They have a lot of great freelance jobs.

Another one is the freelance writing exchange. They list freelance, work-from-home, and numerous other projects. You can apply directly via their website. Right now you can try it out for only $2.95.

thanks for the great links! I recently lost my biggest client so am currently looking for more freelance work. I plan to try all these.

I signed up with guru.com long ago but never used it. Their site seemed a little confusing but will try again.

Another site I like is http://www.allfreelancing.com/. This new forum focuses on the higher-paying gigs (usually magazine work). I think you have to sign up for the forum to see the writing gigs they list.

I'm not too keen on bidding sites. I signed up with RAC about a month ago, and find that to win projects you usually need to bid at a penny per word or less.

I suggest Associated Content - I've been a Content Producer for them for a couple of months now and have been getting a lot of exposure.

I've even been contacted for more writing gigs because of the work that I have published on AC.

Try it out...

If something costs you money, it's not really a job, is it?

While I do write for many online venues, the best freelance leads for print media are in Writer's Market. I was in a bookstore the other day, and noticed the 2008 version is out. I'm not even done with my 2007 Writer's Market!
