My son is so damn Hyper, I wish he could sit still for 5 minutes. He has tantrums over stupid stuff. i am at the end of my rope. "My son is 15 and he hates school!!! I have to fight with him every morning to get up to go...Then when he gets there he starts text messaging me to come get him, because he is sick!!!! " bologna vomit is the worst smelling vomit of all. any mom can attest to this. Sometimes when I have time to daydream I can't help but wonder what my life would be like now without kids. I think about how much more money we would have, how we could afford a bigger house, how we could drive expensive impractical vehicles, how we could still have spontaneous sex in the middle of the day. (5 me toos) SO glad I never bred. My bag is packed for the weekend, and I'm meeting my boyfriend at a golf lodge two hours out of town. Golf for him; shopping, drinks and poolside novel reading for me with a prime rib dinner. Sure beats the hell out of tantrums, fighting a 15-year-old, bologna vomit and daydreaming of a childfree life.

It is nice to not have to worry about babysitters, etc. It's really going to be hot this weekend, so we're skipping this weekend for the next one

Rock on Angela! Have an awesome carefree time!
I'm really glad I won't have a teenager in my house. I know how I was, and I was just moody and kooky, not destructive like a lot of other teens.
Check out this story - this happened in my neighborhood last year. This high school kid had a party at this parent's house. Of course everyone was drunk. The kid kept pointing his parents' gun at people at the party, and he finally ended up shooting and killing one of his friends. His life is over, and his parents' life is probably over, too. This is the kind of stupid stuff teens do. I would *never* want to be responsible for one.

This week, in the town next to mine, a teen was killed while skateboarding. He was hanging onto the back end of an SUV his friend was driving, and somehow he fell under the back wheels of the SUV. How horrible for his family, and his friend. One bad decision, and BAM the kid's life is over.

Where where where? Maybe my husband and I will go there some weekend, he likes to play golf and I like to lounge with a book! :-) How far from Dallas is it? Cindy SO glad I never bred. Cindy, The lodge is called Stagecoach Inn in Salado, TX. Mapquest says it's about 2.5 hours away, but we should be able to speed that up a bit. The accommodations aren't like the Ritz, but it looks really quaint. I've been to Salado before, and it's actually a little historic, quiet town full of family-owned antique stores and restaurants.

We aren't Ritz people anyway. :-) It sounds like fun! I will definitely check into it. My husband and I are planning a vacation in October. I am thinking maybe flying to Vancouver (heard it's a great city but haven't been there since I was a kid) or a Route 66 driving trip (I've been wanting to do that since the movie "Cars" came out!) "Angela...your trip sounds SO nice. If I didn't freaking love animals so much I'd be doing stuff like that a lot more! Well, I guess there's always tradeoffs in life. MMMM...prime rib."
Freida: As a vegetarian, I can honestly say I find this paragraph amusing. You saying you "freaking love animals so much" and "Mmmmm...prime rib" in the same paragraph made me chuckle!
Sorry - just had to add that!

I like to believe that, if I had met someone I loved earlier in life and we had kids, I would have been a good mom. I have a very nurturing personality, the kid would have had the best life I could have provided. But given the nightmares about unwanted pregnancy that have plagued me since I hit puberty, I am glad it worked out this way (no bio kids and most likely no adopted either). But I have also worried for years that if I did have kids, I would have felt exactly like the moms writing all the negative posts on truemomconfessions.
For many years I was never with a partner who seemed inclined towards commitment and parenthood, and as I got older, the time window moved steadily toward the closed-and-locked position. I was always afraid that I would have a kid and resent him/her, regret the decision, etc. Now I think "dodged a bullet". I really could see my parallel life in some of those posts. Maybe it would not have turned out that way if I had parented. But what if it did?
I know those posts are extreme cases and maybe not even really meant. Like anonymous rant board, blowing off steam, sleep deprived, heat of the moment, etc. But what if they're not?!
Sorry for the ramble.
