Maybe you don't need money to get started. I found a free yoga class in my community... start asking around. I was also approached once by a yoga instructor who wants to take my knitting classes if i'd be interested in barter. And also, these days often yoga is taught on television, or you can get instructional tapes at your library. It's not the same as a class, but it could get you started! smile

Yes, i agree! An instructor can actually see you and correct moves you are doing improperly. I use taped instruction myself sometimes, but I originally got it to supplement my classes, which met only twice a week and there were frequent breaks as this was through a college schedule.

I've been thinking of other ways i can reduce my stress. I wish i more disciplined to actually DO them. A lot of stress reducing activities are a slow investment: like yoga, exercise and meditation. Doing it once only gives you a little benefit. Doing it habitually, though, gives you great advantage.

You're right about the benefits taking time. However, once the benefits start being apparent you just don't want to quit!

I have not tried it at home... only in yoga practice. My first teacher instructed us very nicely with it... told us to imagine our body decomposing and becoming one with the earth. Then he would go around to each of us and stand over us and lift us by our arms a little and put us down again, and then lifted our heads which he'd pull gently, and put us down again. This both gave us a good stretch and reminded us to be completely limp and it seemed to work very well. I miss that. It felt good. My current yoga teacher strangely has us do Shavasana in the middle of class.
