Here's a nice one:
"mommy smokes dope because you cry..... but I don't drink."
Dear God, thank you for giving me a good mom, unlike that one.

"I think it should be a law that every one has to get married and have children...there would be so much love our world would be such a better place!!!!! me too (1) "
Oh My God - where are these people from and can we innoculate ourselves somewhere so that we don't get what they have.

Surely that last quote was from someone being facetious...otherwise they're nuts.

I don't know, I hope they weren't serious, but really why would you post that unless you're on something?

We don't have to inoculate ourselves -- we already are, because we've thought about what we want out of life.

On trueofficeconfessions.com there was a post the other day from someone complaining about how the people who post complain about people leaving work early for kids and bringing kids to work.
I don't know what the exact post said, but something along the lines of "I can't believe there are so many child-haters on this board. Good thing there are breeders like me so that the human race doesn't die out."
I couldn't figure if it was serious or sarcastic.

(from TOC) "I can't believe there are so many child-haters on this board. Good thing there are breeders like me so that the human race doesn't die out." *grumble* It irks me when we automatically get tossed into a pit labeled "child-haters." In order to not get that label slapped on us, we're supposed to coo and slobber all over their kids and think they're the best thing since sliced bread...even in the office! Just yesterday, I thought I was going to lose it. A chick brought her "oops" baby into the office, and she was parading it around like the Christ child. Finally, the entourage stopped...right at my cubicle. I counted nine people around this kid and overflowing into my cube, and then the kid trips and falls on its azz and of course lets out a wail. My client in New York says to me over the phone, "Wow, sounds like you've got a lot going on there." Just because I don't like all this commotion, I get labeled as one who doesn't like kids. No, no, no, no, no! On the contrary -- kids can be fun, but not in my effing cube!

In order to not get that label slapped on us, we're supposed to coo and slobber all over their kids and think they're the best thing since sliced bread...even in the office!I make myself scarce, even as a guy, when someone in the department brings her baby in. Mind you, this happens maybe once every year or two, but I've been there for 12 years. One time it happened was enough If I am around during that time (you can't miss it -- it is announced on the office rumor mill when a *BABY* is coming!) I go to my office, close the door (I am lucky enough to have my own office for privacy's sake), and immerse myself in the work, turning on some music to out-volumeize the ooh and ahhs of the women out there. Most guys don't get that oohing and ahhing, but they put up with it because they are fathers. With me, it's even worse! I feel your pain... I do. And yes, I really, truly do not hate kids -- I just can't stand them all the time. An hour or so is ok at a time, but I can't have them around all the time screaming and yelling and running around 24/7. At that point, I *would* yell at them and possibly hurt them if I couldn't leave. THAT is why I am CF to the core. I just don't want them for my own, because you can't just hand them back. People just don't understand that.

I have a real issue with people bringing kids in to work. It's work, not a daycare. People are paying you to be productive, not run around after kids all day. And ESPECIALLY if they're sick. They're too sick to go to school, they'll make the other kids sick? What about the adults in the office, who have to work to support themselves? We can't afford to be sick either!
I did love the story I read about a mom who bought a sick kid in to the office, and bundled it into the elevator where it promptly threw up on one of the VP's. Within an hour, kids were banned from the office. Too funny.

I work with the local school system in Technology. Now, I have my own office at the central office. But, before that, I was out in the field at the schools. When someone comes on board and goes out to the schools, there is a phenomenon known as the 30 day sick period. People who are newly exposed to the hordes of children in schools will be sick a lot for the first 30 days -- just because the person's immune system isn't used to the attack. This symptom passes soonly enough, but still.. everyone gets used to it Sort of the reverse of what you are talking about, but hey -- that's part of the fun of being around kids... hundreds of em
