Just wondering what kinds of bizarre things you have heard parents or prospective parents say that as a CF you think is crazy. Here are a few of mine:

* "I told him now that he's 38 and just getting married that he better get on that baby train!"

* "If I lose my job and have to leave here, who will I have my babies with?" (meaning being pregnant at the same time as co-workers)

* "I DO NOT want my sons to marry a girl that does not want to have children"

and my favorite "I don't want you to tell me anything unless you are telling me you are pregnant."

There are a couple of choice ones to start. If you have any good ones please share=)

Overheard at WalGreens (on a cellphone):

"So yeah, you just jam your fingers down it's throat until it coughs right up."

My friend and I thought this dame was talking about a cat at first, until- "Yeah well I wouldn't worry about the diaper right now if it's choking."

I've heard this one too, more in a situation where I'm talking to a family member and make the mistake of saying "Great news to tell you!" or something like that.

My MIL said it to my hubby when he was about to tell her we were going to meet a puppy we were thinking about getting. Nice huh? And they say CF people are selfish?

My SIL (DH's brother's wife): "Kids are always a blessing!"

She has no clue how many blessings I have as a CF woman.

The family with the banshee kid I saw the other night didn't look very blessed to me....they looked like their eardrums were shattered!

Maybe...blessings are in the eye of the beholder! For us, having peace and quiet at home is a blessing. For others, maybe constant noise and chaos is a blessing?

LOL! Maybe being in debt so you can get your kids through school is a blessing! Or poopy diapers? Lack of sleep? Inability to go to the bathroom by yourself? Yeah, I'd feel really blessed!

Yep, if that is what people call a "blessing", then I kindly and gently (or if pushed, not-so-gently) will say that I am proud to be not blessed.

(Insert Andy Rooney voice)..."Did you ever notice that the exact same words are used by the believers with the 'religious' as well as the 'breeder' folk when they start prying with a big crowbar into your personal life? Don't you hate that?"

(Sorry -- the phrasology of the "blessing" comments brought that out) smile
