okay.. so, i have a new betta fish (his name is Senor Spinach Puff (lol..)) and he has ick.. or.. i think he does. this one site bettatalk.com has this page with all the diseases betta fish get so i was looking at the pictures to try and find out what is wrong with Senor. and it had this picture of a fish with these little white dots on him that kind of look like salt..

sooo, i turned a light on by my fish tank and i could see all these little grain of salt looking things on his fins.. so it's like.. crud! Senor has ick!

so we went to walmart (where we live we don't have any actual pet stores around us unless we travel two hours away, so the only place that really has any pet things is walmart and even that is an hour away from here) and all i could find to help was this "QuICK Cure" stuff. it says that it turns the water blue for a little bit but this disappears in a few days.

now.. the site bettatalk.com says to keep the fish water to 85 degrees because ick is a tempature thing and they let go of the fish and then the stuff you put in the water kills them.. i'm just worried though because nothing seems to have happened except his water is a little blue.

now.. i'm probably getting head over my heels with this (i only bought the QuICK Cure yesturday and it does say it will take a few days) but if this doesn't work, what would any one else suggest?

i also heard that if you put aquarium salt in your fish water they'll never get Ick.. is this true?

so.. yes. any one have any suggestions? or helpful advice?

anything at all would be very appreciated right now..

grinHow's your Quick Cure treatment on Senor going? (Is he green like spinach? Or puffy?) Aquarium salt is for improving the efficiencey of medications and to reduce stress - it's not to be used all the time for Betta fish. If the Quick Cure doesn't work, you could try "Rid-Ich+". Where did you buy Senor from? Did he already have ick when you bought him? The appropriate number of consistent water changes done correctly can prevent a lot of diseases and quarantining any other fish and plants before you introduce them into Senor's tank can also help keep him disease free! Keep us updated and send a photo of him on a post here at the fish forum on the fish site at www.BellaOnline.com - Mary : )
