"I've always bought my cat food at the supermarket.

However my friend
who has a dog says she never does that because the

food isn't good
enough quality. Is that the same for cats? Should I

buy food at only pet
stores?"

It doesn't matter where you get the food. Just look at the first ingredient. It should be a meat. That's the best kind to get.

It's not so much where you buy, as what the ingredients are. Do you know how to read a cat food label?

check this site out..they offer a freebie of their healthy cat food, but also give you a free book that explains the pet food industry and how to read labels.

I don't want to gross anyone out, but if you're concerned about cat food, then you may wish to know.

IF YOU GROSS OUT EASILY...DON'T READ THIS.....

You'll notice on the label of wet and dry food that it says, "meat by products"...okay, what is that? That is the "meat" not meant for human consumption...the stuff that falls on the floor...the animal that died on the way to the plant or didn't pass inspection, and all the "left over" pieces of the animal all ground up (the head, the feet--everything.) That is what "meat by products" are.

So, basically, pet food with "meat by products" is the meat processsing plant's way of making money off their garbage--and the stuff is expensive--like 70 cents per can--and this is a billion dollar industry. Cats love it because it's soaked in gravies they love. Feeding your cat this food is the equivalent of a human eatting McDonald's for every meal.

You can easily make your own wet food and it's less expensive and healthier. There are lots of places online that have recipes, or ask your vet. Just make sure he gets dry food too.

Yes!! I recommend reading SEE SPOT LIVE LONGER...It changed the way I view pet food--especially for cats.

I totally agree with it being like McDonald's for every meal.
