what's the best way of beating this guy? first time i fought him i was badly prepared and got hammered with shimmering rain, so tday i go back there much better prepared, think i'm doing ok, pay yojimbo 15grand and he does wazikashi so yojimbo dies, then i get nailed with nova and bang game over

what's the best idea to beat him and is there anyway of blocking nova/limiting the damage it does?

i�ll got mighty guard regen my best party,
and after i,ve taken a few 100k of him i�ll go craysi and cast ultima and nova in a row so theres no way i could have survived that.
so now im tring to find the perfect stadegy to win him. i�ll tell you if i find it.

basically I would make sure your people + aeons are at overdrive, go in and cast hastega (cause he's fairly slow), shell and if you want a measure of safety auto-life on at least one person. Shell helps dampen his magic attacks A LOT. Anyway, then make sure you have Kimahri lancet him to learn Nova and start hitting him with your overdrives and the aeon overdrives. Since I found it damn near impossible to get the Magus sisters up to overdrive I had Yuna grand summon them. I had him dead using this strategy, saddly about half a second after he started dying, we had a power outage.... I was REAL happy, and now I get to do it all again *grr*
You want to make sure your people are at good levels though, if they're not even far enough to have auto-life and the like, you may just want to run around the dungeon a little more ;-) Good luck!

i've been doing alot of running around that dungeon recently, think i'm gonna get some more ultimate weapon pieces before i do it again

What was the point of fighting that big ugly idiot? someone said kimarhi can learn nova with lancet (which i didn't know), but besides that, after i beat him, nothing happened. I went all the way back to the battle site, very irritating fighting all the fiends every two steps mind you, and all that was left was a goddamn friend sphere or some [censored] like that! What a waste of time if you ask me. So is there something i'm missing or what? Jeez, that had to be one of the most annoying side plots in history.
