Can some one explain what you are ment to do with the stones with the cacti on them, on the thunder plains. Sometimes they are lit up,I need to catch one to finish the thunder plain.

those stones unlock kihmaris ultimate wepond, u have to use the square button on 3 of them, then go back to the first [art of the thunder plains, there should bee a lill gosht, follow it and it will take u to thei pillar, click on it and a chest will appear, but u cant open it until u have the celestial mirror

Just press the square button to pray (to the lit up ones).If u do that to all of them u'll get Kimahri's Ultima weapon,Spirit Lance.
