I **loathe** strollers, particularly the double-wide variety. And this weekend I even saw a TRIPLE-wide!! Now come on, is that REALLY necessary (except for triplets, and they do make in-line strollers)? Double-wides are bad enough, taking up "most" of the sidewalk. But the triple-wide? Guess no one but you has a right to even use the sidewalk?

Which reminds me: there was an article in our local paper last week about pedestrians and bikes sharing multi-use paths. I have no problem passing walker/joggers/etc. on my bike, but I think multiple-wide strollers are just plain be unsafe for everyone.

I've moved a couple of strollers. I move shopping carts in the supermarket too. And then I give the driver a look that says "Say something. Make.my.day". They never do :-)

I love this, very funny! It's only a matter of time before I flip out on someone with a stroller.

My CF confessions.....

*Definitely agree with others here about the strollers. I especially hate those high-end "status" strollers as well as the whole "baby as fashion accessory" trend.

*I like some kids - well-behaved, smart, interesting kids - and I enjoy spending time with them individually. However, I have zero tolerance for groups of kids. All that noise & chaos! Whenever I walk by my local playground, I see the moms watching their kids run around, and am just so grateful I don't have to do that!

*I don't understand the obsession people have with passing on their genes. So many people have this fantasy that their kids will inherit the best qualities of both parents, when in reality having a baby is a total crapshoot - your kid could just as easily inherit the worst qualities of your craziest relatives too! I also cringe at the idea of a child as your legacy. How selfish to put such pressure on another person!

*On a similar note, I don't get why people want grandchildren so badly. Some of my parents' friends talk about nothing else, even when their grandchildren live far away & they hardly ever see them. I think if these people really wanted little children in their lives, they could participate in programs such as "big brothers/big sisters", or volunteer at a daycare center or a school, rather than natter on about grandchildren. I suppose for them it's more about passing on genes or perhaps the "grandchild as status symbol".

*I think puppies are much cuter than human babies.

*I wish airlines would offer CF flights and restaurants would have CF dinner hours (i.e. no one under 8 after 8 p.m.) smile

I've also had people in crowds or lines ram the back of my legs with strollers. Don't mean to be a humbug, but strollers bug me for some reason. I like kids better than strollers! I like the baby-wearing approach a lot better. In fact, I've been wanting a sling for my cat.
crazy

Did you know you can get a stroller for your cat? No, seriously. Saw it in that catalog you get on airplanes. smile

(I hate strollers too. Or more accurately, how clueless some stroller jockeys are about how much space they take up.)

Rant Warning!

My patience with rude people diminishes everyday. I figure I'm only about a couple of months from just saying "To hell with propriety" and telling rude people exactly what I think.

To moms with strollers blocking my path and walking away from the stroller to shop(I see this often): Hey lady! Do you think it would be possible for you prioritize keeping an eye on your spawn over wasting my time? This is 21st century America. I shouldn't have to stand in line behind a squalling infant waiting to just LOOK at a pair of jeans while it's mother wanders away to look at something else and you should have used protection!

I have other choice rants, but this is the current topic. I'm getting very close to approaching the drivers of cars that nearly run me down in parking lot cross walks, people who bring their crying babies out in public at 11pm or later (why isn't that kid at home asleep where he needs to be?), people who cut in line at cash registers, customers who interrupt my conversations with other customers, people who block entire aisles of grocery stores because they ran into someone they knew and neither party was polite enough to park in an out of the way place while they talked, drivers who feel that the fire lane signs do not apply to them and park right in front of store doors, parents who feel their child has a right to run wild and do whatever he pleases (including running over strangers with shopping carts and approaching other diners in a restaurant), the list goes on and on.

I'm going to start telling them how tired I am of their rudeness. We live in a "me first" society and I'm over it. There's no excuse for making the courteous live a "me last" life! I'm going to give up courtesy in exchange for "promoting awareness of idiocy."

I feel the same way. I love hanging one on one with my nephew, but I hate the way kids act when they all get together. They run and scream, and it's so annoying. When I have my nephew one on one, we can read, play a game, or actually have a conversation. His attention span is pretty short, too, and that gets on my nerves. I know my limit, and usually just spend three or less hours with him. Then I can be fun aunt, as opposed to the aunt that is strung out smile

OK, here goes.

Sometimes I still think fondly of an ex lover I was CRAZY in love with years ago. I imagine being ecstatically pregnant with his child. And, of course the lovemaking required! Basically I live this whole alternate life with him the child of our grand passion in this glowing idealized fantasy.

Then I return to reality, remember the reasons why he and I are no longer together, and plan to do something extremely nice for my wonderful childfree DH.

Rereading this, think of it as kind of like that episode of Star Trek: Next Generation when Picard gets zapped by the alien probe and while unconscious for twenty minutes, lives an entire lifetime on the planet of the probe's origin...before its sun went nova...
