Hi I know most of us here are moms, I just wonder if you have ever hired a in-home nanny for a week and then travel for a week? Am I selfish to even think about this...I just wanted to know if this is really doable, and how old your kids are when you did this? Will they feel left behind? I found some all hours day care, but I don't know if they allow us to do that. My baby is too small to do so yet, but I'm thinking when she grows older, it may be harder because she'll think we're abandoning her...

Well, I have traveled without the kids. My husband stayed with the kids for a weekend while his mother and I went somewhere. For our honeymoon, we had a friends stay with them while he and i went without them. I think because they knew who stayed with them they were ok with it. When my son was around 2 I spent a weekend away with his now step-father. He stayed with a sitter that my sister in law used and my brother and sister in law were down the hall in their apartment if he needed them.

Yeah, a weekend getaway seems more doable. and you are right, will be good to ask a friend to help out than a sitter who they have not met before.

I went away once. Worried till I got there, then relaxed and had a great time. And, the kids survived!

Friends have gone away also. One has no problem. One always feels guilty that she is enjoying herself without them.

Have you tried having family take care of the kids. They can play with cousins etc...
