So, any of you started on Christmas presents? I'm thinking of starting on scarves. Anyone else?

Gosh here in Oz land its summer at Xmas time and sooo hot scarves just won't be appreciated. What can you suggest for an Aussie Xmas? i have never bothered crocheting anything for summer. Although i used to make doilys by the pool when my son was learning to swim years ago,but our summers are hotter than ever now.You are lucky you can make all sorts of stuff for Xmas prezzies. Slippers, sachets,treasure bags for kids, napkin rings, bracelets and earrings and necklaces, headbands,hats,tissue box covers, toilet paper covers, air freshner covers,hot water bottle covers,mittens,pet sweaters,hats,coffee cup cozies,shawls,whew! the list goes on.

I am ashamed of myself, but will butt in anyway, am looking for snowman patterns for our Xmas tea sale in November at the local library.
I haven't been able to find much out there, and perhaps someone knows something I don't, and can point me in the right direction.
Would be most appreciative, it is getting later as we speak.
