hey there. First off, there's an even better goaie out there than Miyu: Jumal (catch = 14), he's the guy sitting on the bench with his wife as their kid runs around with a balloon in Luca at the Square (where you walk through to get to the cafe). Good forwards are Shaami, who's on the bridge in Luca on the way to the square, Wedge (one of the two best scorers on my team right now), who is guarding the stairs in Luca stadium. You can also recruit Zev Ronso (Luca Dock number 5) if oyu don't mind how slow he is... I also have Brother (the guy flying the airship) on my team as a forward. He's SUPEr fast so you can have him lead away all the people form the other team and then pass back to someone else to score, or just have him high tail it past them and shoot himself. Also REALLY good is Svanda who is somewhere in the northern areas of the calm lands. Hm... I know several more who are out there, but I think those are the best. Once you get far enough, the other teams will start letting some of their people go, occassionally one of them will be worth getting ;-) My team currenlty consists of Svanda, Wedge, tidus, Brother, Jumal as goalie, Ropp as defense (he's in the travel agency on the Mi'ihen highroad), Naida (the woman running the rest stop in the calm lands) and Blappa (a fair forward as well, I snatched him away from the al bhed psyches when they let him go). Just run aorund trying to recruit everybody you see. even Rin plays (though not particularily well in my opinion) and there's a monk out there somewhere too who does too (Kilika temple).
