There are lots of interpretations of what will happen, some feel it will literally be the end of the world. I like to think there will be a rise in global consciousness and vibration, that things will change for the better for all. of course I don't see it as that minamalist but thats a summary

Did you write an article on 2012? I was looking for it? Did I miss it? What an interesting topic.

You haven't missed it...I'm researching! It's pretty complex. I'm currently reading 'The Mayan Code' by Barbara Hand Clow & synchronistically coming across 2012 info all over the place. Phew!

The good news is general consensus seems to be the world will not end as long as humanity makes the big shift away from mass consumerism, competition & 'me first' to a more enlightened, loving state. So we may have a little way to go in the next five years but I feel things are moving faster now & people really are 'waking up'.

I'm looking forward to the article. You have always been very enlightening and well informed with whatever you write for Bella. Thank you, I will be looking for it.

Hey, if it really means the end of the world, I want to know about it! I'm cashing in my 401(k) and livin' on a cruise ship for the last year! Royal Caribbean, here I come! (laughs) Just kidding!

There are a lot of different theories about this one. Supposedly the Mayan calendar ends abt December 21 (Yule), 2012. However, 2011 crops up when one does the math, so its a bit sketchy. People always fear the end of the world - I can't figure out why. I'm kind of looking forward to it.

The shift brings up a really good discussion, and one that corresponds to a post I replied to an hour ago, about a shift in abilities in 2000. I personally think that for people who experience paranormal abilities, they will spike at greater heights between now and 2012, than they have between 2000 and now. It is entirely possible to experience a consciousness shift while still living in countries that hold onto older, so called selfish ideologies, because we experience our consciousness as individuals, although it is undoubtedly way too easy to experience consciousness on national and global levels.

Take for instance the 2008 olympics. There are an awful lot of people who are against the Chinese treatment of the Tibetans, who have taken every chance they get, as the torch passes through different countries, to dowse the flames with water, to express how deeply they sympathize and yearn for Tibetan freedom. Its easy for us to experience limited tiers of group consciousness over any series of events, but these may be part of the "shifts" in question that prepare us both as individuals and as a larger group consciousness for greater events such as 2012.

There is also the possibility that some major change will occur, but that the naysayers will be cynics because of the lack of any physical evidence that anything has actually changed. Just because we can't see it, doesn't mean that nothing will happen.

I first learned about the 2012 theory just recently while I was reading a fascinating book called The Evolutionary Mind. One of the authors, Terrance McKenna (who is now unfortunately deceased), had developed his own theory about 2012 and constructed an interesting model of time waves that seems to support it.

I also read somewhere, though I can't recall exactly where, that 2012 will represent the culmination of polar shifts that have been happening gradually for some time now; something along the lines of north becoming south and vice versa. If that is truly the case, we can probably expect to see plenty of changes to our global climate.

Regardless of what may or may not happen in 2012, apocalyptic theories can be useful in that they encourage us to be more present in our daily lives and help us to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the here and now.

That could explain the gradual rise in natural phenomena such as monsoons, floods, earthquakes, etc.

There have been over 65 prophecies of "End Times" since 30CE and none of them have come to pass. 2012 is another of these prophesies and I am sure that there will be plenty more.
