I don't think I'm overfeeding him because I would only give him a couple of flakes every 2-3 days. I'm wondering if the flakes themselves constipated him. I wouldn't say he's just fat because it almost happened overnight and he literally looks like he swallowed a marble. I put a couple of peeled cut up peas in the tank for him. They sank to the bottom real quick and he found them and is nibbling on one right now.

I hope this works! Thanks again.

I just changed the water in my Betta's bowl. I added a little more water then usual. It is really a oversized vase, but it has a large opening at the top. So it's not preventing his air in anyway. Besides he has been in the same thing for almost 8 mos. My question is this. Is it gonna affect his air any that I over-filled? Should I take some of the water out or will it be fine?

No, the air will be fine but you do need to worry about him jumping out if the water level is too close to the top. These fish are great jumpers!

Oh, do you have a plant covering the top? If you do make sure it isn't completely closed up. I have seen a "betta" vase, in a petstore of all places, that had a plant sitting in a plastic up on top of a vase with a betta in it. I could see no way for the air to get in for that poor fish.

April, It's been so long since I've changed my avatar...lol...I can't remember how that works. Sorry I couldn't help, but I'm sure someone will come by who can.

april the only thing I know is that I did mine under the profile update. I did not upload my own, so I don't know how you would go about doing that sorry.

My betta is fasting today after eating a pea yesterday. It is still fat, but not pine-coning. I hope it has a BM soon! It hurts me to see it that way!

April....only thing I can think of is the same issue I had when I wanted to do my own avatar...

You have to have the picture posted somewhere on the web in order to use it here. The system doesn't upload pictures from your computer, it goes and gets them from the URL address of the picture on the web.

There was someone here awhile ago who did up a bunch of avatars for everyone..she hasn't been here in quite awhile though. I sent her a picture which she put up on her site so that I could use it here.

Other than that I don't know what the problem could be April. Good luck figureing it out..lol

Since I've talked so much about the "Boring Tank Treatment" (BTT)..thought I would post a picture of some of them....

http://www.bellaonline.com/misc/rateme/photos/photo2536.jpg

Comet is on the left and his fins still occasionally start to tatter...

Zorro is in front and his fins are doing wonderfully, but I dare not put him in a tank with anything because I don't want him to tear them again....

Gorbash is behind Zorro..and he's being treated with BettaFix..AGAIN! Even though there is nothing in there but the plant and he gets regular 50% water changes about every other day or so....still a problem....

Lytol is the one on the left. He is first betta I purchased and I never have problems with him, So he gets to keep his gravel AND "PLASTIC" plant.. Ah, if only they were all as easy as he is!

I guess PetCo is the store for me from now on..I'm going to have to avoid looking at the bettas in the other store, cause I KNOW I won't be able to resist a gorgeous find if I see one...oh well...
