What kinds of plans or celebrations are ya'll thinking about for the upcoming Solstice? Its always interesting to me to see how others individualize their rituals, especially if you practice alone. Me, I head to the beach. The water is always powerfully energizing for me and plus...well, I'm surrounded by it! smile

Oooh, I hadn't thought about it. But that's a great idea. I was just on the shore of Lake Michigan, watching the waves roll in, with a thunderstorm lighting up the sky behind me. Quite breathtaking.

I'll probably also spend a little time pouting, as the solstice also marks the return towards winter. I really dislike shoveling snow...

Snow? What's that? wink Teasing. Last time it snowed here was 1989, it was approximatly 4 inches and the whole town shut down for a week - with 'ner a loaf of bread or a can of beans to be found on the grocery shelves - honest! LOOL.

I'd love to have some more snow! But I doubt that will be happening around here anytime soon. This morning at 5:30am it was 74 degrees and the humidity already at 96%. I think the coldest we ever got was like 20, maybe 18, and that was pushing it and it only lasted a couple of days.

To the original question of Summer Solstice... I am replanting a garden with my kids. We are just beginners at gardening and made some mistakes with planting too many potatoes and carrots too close together. Also, star gazing.

MM,
I spent the morning of summer solstice outside watching the sun come up with a day ritual to the sun.

Then later that day I did 2 Reiki sessions & ended the day with a small night Ritual.

MM,

Nice to see you SapphireMoon. smile

I did hit the beach the morning of the solstice and dodged some raindrops here and there but did a rededication and then just sat and meditated for awhile, a peaceful and fulfilling time.

MM,
Hey Lowcountry46,
Sounds like you had a fine time. I been wanting to get back to my "private" beach (Land's end) but havent had the time yet. Its so quite there & nice too.

How's your writing going?

MM,
Hey Sapphire. I 'think' I know exactly where your talking about, although Land's end does stretch on for awhile. Is it anywhere near an old tabby fort? Lots and lots of legends and old folklore surrounding that area - many from before/during and after the Civil War. A lovely place, been all over and around there over the years.

Writing, well not much lately. Had a health emergency in the family ( all ok now ) that I have been dealing with. But like an old friend, I know its there waiting.
