A friend of mine has a child with celiac (dont know the spelling) disease. She was told that oats were safe, but it caused a problem any way. She was told that in the processing of the oats, there may have been wheat processing as well and got contaminated. So Drs say no gluten in Oats but be aware of how its processed.

askimomc,
You know, we had a similar experience. My daughter's allergist suggested oats as a wheat alternative. The her pediatrician said absolutely NOT - that oats contained gluten.

It seems to be controversial. Supposedly the grain itself does not contain gluten (although I've read otherwise) so I always just tell people that yes, it does, and to avoid it if they're trying to avoid gluten.

I see, too, that there are also "gluten-free" brands but we haven't tried them yet.

So, thanks for your answer! You are right!

I'm a little late joining in, but I've heard flaxseed oil is a great source of EFA.

grains, fruits, nuts and vegetables, Rice, beans. My 17 year old nephew is a vegitarian and eats this stuff all the time. He doesn't eat anything with a central nervous system.

EFA's? is that the same as the Omega 3 or eating spinach or tuna?
