"Blood is thicker than water" I hear alot. I don't agree. My belief is that you are stuck with those that are blood to you, but you PICK the family that aren't.

For instance, my father and my dad. They are different people. My father is my biological father and I was forced to do the whole visitation thing until I was old enough to say no. My dad is my stepfather who actually raised me, loved me, stands by me, and has done everything that a father is supposed to do.

I have an aunt who is really my moms best friend, and who is also a much closer relative to me than any group of "real" aunts or uncles. She actually cares about us because she loves us for who we are NOT because she is our blood.

So no, I don't think blood matters at all.
