I remember watching a movie with this story.

A police officer's son was kidnapped. The kidnappers wanted the officer to stop bothering them or they would kill the child.
In the hearing distance of child, the father was heard saying on telephone that- you can kill my son but my duty is supreme.

The child was shocked to hear this and could never forgive his father.

Was the father right?
If for father his duty was supreme, then was he also not supposed to protect his child?

This officer should have resigned but protected his son.
