I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT IF MY DOLLAR COINS PRE-1900 AND EARLY
1920s ARE WORTH ANYTHING BEFORE I LET MY GRANDKIDS HAVE THEM.
ARE THERE BOOKS IN A LIBRARY AND WHAT DEFINES A "MORGAN"DOLLAR???

Barb; There are several sights on the web, with relistic prices that a dealer will pay for your morgans, they also will show you Varieties that are higher in price. The PCGS sight are for slabbed coins that bring heavy prices, compared to raw coins. The library will also have 2 books worth a look .THE OFFCIAL RED BOOK AND THE OFFICIAL BLUE BOOK both by YEOMAN.The BLUE BOOK is average price a Dealer would pay and The RED BOOK is retail price. They both are loaded with information on the Morgans.Remember each time silver goes up so does your Morgan Dollar.IMO If you find one that is high priced and is in nice shape then take it to a PCGS dealer to see if worth having it slabbed or third party graded. If you are lucky enough to find a 1889-CC or a 1893-S or by chance a 1895, head for the PCGS Dealer or their office.GOOD LUCK A 1895 is a proof and it could really help put the kids into college. The PCGS would be a good reference point on any Super nice au or bu coin.
