Hello, today we bought 2 betta fishes for my kids, one each, this will be their first pet, so I am very nervous of doing anything wrong, but I think I just did :(, I really did not do any research on the Betta fish before, but as soon as I got home I searched for info, I found this site and explains how to take care of them very well. It said that I was to clean the tank and accessories, remove the clorine of the water and put them for 15 min on a plastic bag to adapt to the temperature, now I did everything but to take the clorine off the water since I did not know and didn't buy anything to do it, now I have them in a bag flooting on top of their new tank and I am scare to put them in, how long should I wait before I let them swim in their tanks?

You really need to get something to put in the water. It's really cheap, just two dollars for some kinds. Go tomorrow to get some and you'll be fine.

If you let the water stand for three days (or so) the chlorine will evaporate, but if your city also uses chloramine in the water then you will DEFINATELY need a dechlorinator. You can call the water treatment plant to find out. Lots of places use chloramine because it's cheaper. Also, be careful when you do buy the product. The one that I bought says add one drop per gallon for just chlorine, and three per gallon if there is chloramine as well.
