Be particularly alert this month for ways to improve work comfort and safety.
Back pain will afflict 70-80% of us at some time during our lives. Often, back pain occurs from daily micro-trauma rather than a significant one-time injury.
A few quick tips for prevention -
Bend with the knees, not at the back.
Do not twist the back when lifting or placing objects. Turn the whole body and point the toes towards the object.
Test the weight of the object and get help if needed.
Keep the object in close to the body.
Push rather than pull objects if you have a choice.
Use your body weight to help push objects and, again, get in close.
