Wh1le this isn't explicitly about atheism per se, it is about keeping your mind clear.

That is very interesting Nechochwen. It is very like what is believed in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - regarding 'errors' in thinking, and how we can cut through all this by gaining clear reasoning in how we interpret things that others say and believe, and in our own thinking.

I can see here patterns of many responses in some forums here, including some of my own.

Makes sense to me!

This is a different way of saying "If all you have is a hammer, every problem is a nail." :-) Useful on occasion, but I like a well-equipped toolbox!

Fantastic list! I would love to see cognitive bias fallacies as well as formal and informal logical fallacies being studied by students in public high schools here in the U.S., alongside reading and writing and 'rithmetic.

Question for those outside the U.S.: Do students in your country study logic and rhetoric in high school?

Hi Alicia,

I don't know about now, but these subjects, including Logic, were not compulsory some years ago. They had to be selected. I could be wrong, but I think this may still apply.

It could very well be happening in some subjects at the tertiary level though.

I really agree with you and think that these subjects should be on the 'required' list for secondary students.

Ann.
